Intel launched new drivers for Windows 10, this time with a series of important updates for users of Microsoft’s newest operating system.

The updated drivers are version 22.30.0 and come with four separate changes, one of which relates to the BSOD that happened at random points after booting on Windows.

Intel explains in the release notes that this latest driver update fixes “Windows Stop Errors Correlated with Intel Wireless Drivers” without explicitly giving any glitch information. However, if you’ve recently reached a catastrophic crash on Windows 10 and you think Intel drivers are the ones to blame, just go ahead and grab the latest update as soon as possible.

Intel adds that the new drivers also address an issue that causes wireless adapters to fail to connect to 5 GHz networks, a bug that happened again on Windows 10.

No update for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1

And of course, there are also other security improvements and bug fixes, as explained below:

  • When a system is connected to an Access Point using channel 165 and the Windows 10 mobile hotspot feature is enabled sharing the 5GHz network, the mobile hotspot network is not visible to other systems under the wireless network scan list.
  • Intel PROSet/Wireless Software 22.30.0 has been updated to include functional and security updates. Users should update to the latest version.

You can find the new drivers on this page.Bear in mind the new drivers are only available for Windows 10, as Intel has stopped sending updates to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. As a matter of fact, Windows 7 no longer gets security patches from Microsoft, as it has been deemed an unsupported operating system since January 2014.

The new Intel drivers available for download for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are version 21.50.1.
